De Rode Hoed, Amsterdam, zondag 6 december 2015
In samenwerking met de UvA, Hebreeuws en Joodse studies, en Ronit Palache organiseerde Crescas het symposium ‘De Casus Spinoza’. De belangstelling was overweldigend. Met 450 bezoekers was De Rode Hoed tot de nok toe gevuld. De ‘line up’, met sprekers als Jonathan Israel, Yosef Kaplan, Nathan Lopes Cardozo, Steven Nadler, Ronit Palache, Piet Steenbakkers en Pinchas Toledano, was dan ook indrukwekkend. Het originele handschrift met de Portugese tekst van de cherem (ban) op Spinoza was naar De Rode Hoed gebracht (bruikleen van het Stadsarchief Amsterdam) en werd gelezen door Benjamin Moser. Emile Schrijver gaf hierbij een inleiding en droeg de Engelse vertaling van de ban voor. De dag werd gemodereerd door Irene Zwiep.
